About

The Defend Foundation

Making digital safety accessible to everyone.

Our mission

The Defend Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit building public-interest technology to help individuals and communities prevent, navigate, and remediate digital harm.

Through practical tools, step-by-step guidance, responsible use of AI, and a network of verified organizations we are building, we're working to make digital safety and meaningful remediation more accessible to everyone.

What we do

The Foundation provides the information, tools, and resources people need to understand what happened, take the right next steps, and find help they can trust.

  1. Understand

Help people understand what happened and which official places can help.

  2. Step-by-Step Guides

Put the steps for common situations in order, with links to the official places to take them.

  3. Find support

Point people to nonprofit victim-support organizations for one-on-one help.

Start with the one that fits; you don't need to follow them in order.

About Security & Privacy
  • Your information stays with you

Guides and the Privacy Center work without an account, and your answers stay in your browser tab. We build Defend around collecting as little as possible, for only as long as it's needed.

  • Official sources, with their dates

Our guidance points to the official places to go, such as government agencies and the companies involved, and shows when its sources were last checked.

  • You decide what is sent

Defend doesn't contact anyone or send anything for you unless you review the request and authorize it. No AI system can authorize a request for you.

  • Verification can't be bought

Payment, sponsorship, or donations never buy an organization's verification, ranking, or place in the Defend Network.
